True Hope

On what foundation have you built your Hope?

the oceanMoney?  Possessions? Science?  Fame?  Relationships?  Church?  Good works?  Like a mound of sand eroded by relentless waves, so is hope founded on anything less than that which endures eternally.  Disappointment and discouragement often plague those whose hopes has failed them. Jesus described this situation with an illustration of contrasting foundations- rock vs. sand.  He stated that the individual who puts his trust in Him (Jesus) is like a “wise man” who built his house upon a rock. When the storms [of life] came, the house on the rock stood firm.  Jesus also described another individual- one who professed himself to be wise yet built his house upon the sand (any hope apart from Jesus).  When the storms [of life] came, the dwelling of the”foolish man” collapsed.

Which foundation have you chosen?

Over 2,000 years ago, Jesus Christ died on a Roman cross. Why?  He died to pay for our sins so that those who trust in Him can have a true hope and an eternal future.

Isaiah the prophet foretold of the promised Savior over 800 years before Jesus’ birth.

“But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray;
We have turned, every one, to his own way;
And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.”

– Isaiah 53:5-6 (The Bible)

Our sin and rebellion separate us from God.  The only way our relationship with God can be restored is through the sacrificial death and resurrection of a perfect sinless man.  Jesus is that man…fully God, yet fully human.  He came to earth and lived among us.  He loved us; that is why He came.  He came to bring joy to the sorrowful, peace to the troubled, hope to the hopeless and forgiveness to the rebel.  Put your faith and trust in Him today!

 “For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,  and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures…”  1 Cor. 15:3-4 (The Holy Bible)

“Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.

 “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”
